The third work package of the Skills4Life project is the Training Package For Adult Educators.
This work package was designed to offer hands-on materials for adult educators, community educators, social workers, professionals that work with young adults, and all interested in the education of young care leavers.
The training package includes: Handbook, and In-Service Training Programme.
Handbook
The handbook on the development of transition to autonomy programmes was designed to build successful autonomy programmes. It includes four main aspects:
- Strategies to build livelihoods of young adults in alternative care settings
- importance of the concept of livelihood for young adults in alternative care settings
- help them be able to make, influence and participate in decisions about their own lives
- Strategies to help young adults in alternative care settings develop social and human capital
- the concept and impact of social and human capital and its importance for young adults in alternative care settings
- various forms of social and human capital: social network, education, training, work
- role of caregivers and other community organisations
- importance of networking and seeking support from professionals
- Development of personal autonomy programmes for an effective transition of young adults in alternative care settings: steps and procedures
- key principles and approaches, goals and objectives of personal autonomy programmes
- how to improve the effectiveness of such programmes
- steps and procedures involved in the development
- how to restructure and define new strategies towards the intervention with young people
- how to develop an action plan and implement a strategy
- taking into account the unique needs and circumstances of the individuals
- prepare care leavers for the transition to adult life
